In this guide we’ll explain why you should book your balloon flight with a safe reputable company and why you should let your experienced local Virgin pilot and his crew fly you in an iconic red Virgin balloon.

Peace of mind; Virgin Balloon Flights have the fairest Terms & Conditions in the industry

We at Virgin Balloon Flights like to be flexible. We only ask you to book once during your vouchers validity and if your flight is cancelled due to poor weather, we give you 6 months from your last attempt to book another flight, and so on, regardless of the expiry date on your voucher. Not all balloon companies are quite as understanding; some require you to re-book a staggering eight times to keep your voucher valid after 12 months.
If you change your mind, just let us know within 21 days of purchase and we’ll refund your voucher in full. No questions asked and no admin fee will be charged.

Unlike many other balloon operators we do not charge you a 40% - 50% admin fee if you become unfit to take your flight or are due a refund for some other reason.

Safe, legal and fully insured transport
We offer you a safe and fully insured transport back from the landing site with a vehicle and driver who are both licenced for commercial passenger transport. Not all balloon companies adhere to this practice despite legislation that only licensed vehicles and licenced drivers should be used for commercial passenger transport.
We have the same level of insurance as a Commercial Aircraft Operator

All our balloons are insured for public and third party liability in accordance with REGULATION (EC) No 785/2004 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT – INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR AIR CARRIERS AND AIRCRAFT OPERATORS.
Availability, locations, our flying season and more...
Having a large and efficient organisation benefits our customers and allows us to keep our prices competitive while offering a first class service. Virgin Balloon Flights is one of the biggest balloon companies in the world and the only national balloon operator in the UK. We are fully equipped to fly mornings and evenings 7 days a week all over the country during our flying season which gives you great availability. With over 100 launch sites across England, Scotland and Wales you are spoilt for choice both locally and nationally. If you would like to discuss availability or would like us to assist you with scheduling before purchasing your voucher, please call us, we are available 7 days a week on 01952 212750.
Locations can vary greatly and some balloon operators’ launch sites can appear far superior to others but are they suitable for ballooning? One such example is flights across London which we stopped offering many years ago due to an unacceptably high number of cancellations. This was due to special restrictions on visibility, wind directions and wind speeds which resulted in a 25% success rate compared to flights over the countryside.
When looking for balloon flights on the web, you will notice that that there are considerably more websites than there are balloon rides operators. We have discovered one operator who appears to have eight websites where one of them is an informative site offering seemingly independent advice on the choice of balloon operator. Another balloon operator seems to have four websites and some operators have two or three sites so be aware of the supposedly ‘local’ websites that are managed by the same operator, sometimes covering a large area of the UK with only one or two balloons. The three external websites who are promoting us are clearly labelled Virgin Balloon Flights on the Home Page so you always know who you are dealing with.
Our flying season is March to October with some local variations and we do not schedule flights during the winter for good reasons. Flying over a frosty landscape might sound idyllic but anyone who has experienced a UK winter knows that it is normally wet and windy so expect a lot of cancellations and for the few flights that might go ahead, expect mud.

We hope this guide has been informative and if you have any further questions, please call us on 01952 212750, we are available 7 days a week.
